  • Contact Names: The display names of your contacts to identify individuals in our system.
  • Phone Numbers: Phone numbers associated with your contacts for communication purposes within the platform.
  • Biography/Notes: Notes and biography information from your Google contacts, which we parse to categorize contacts by skills, locations, and custom groupings relevant to staffing.

How We Use This Data

The Google contact data we access is used exclusively for the following purposes:

  • Contact Synchronization: We synchronize your Google contacts with your StaffStar account to provide a unified view of your professional network.
  • Contact Organization: We parse biography notes to automatically categorize contacts by skills, locations, and other attributes to help you organize your staffing activities.
  • Communication Management: We use phone numbers to facilitate SMS messaging and call logging within the platform.
  • Contact Creation: When you create new contacts within StaffStar, you have the option to add them to your Google contacts as well.

How We Store and Protect This Data

  • Local Storage: Contact data synchronized from Google is stored in our secure database to enable offline access and fast performance.
  • Encryption: Your Google OAuth access tokens and refresh tokens are encrypted using industry-standard encryption before being stored in our database.
  • User Isolation: Your Google contact data is strictly isolated to your account and cannot be accessed by other StaffStar users.
  • Manual Synchronization: Contact synchronization only occurs when you manually trigger a sync. We do not automatically access your Google contacts in the background.

Your Control Over Google Data

  • Revoke Access: You can revoke StaffStar's access to your Google contacts at any time through your Google Account permissions page.
  • Delete Your Data: If you delete your StaffStar account, all contact data synchronized from Google will be permanently deleted from our systems. However, your original data will remain in your Google account.
  • Re-sync Anytime: You can trigger a re-synchronization at any time, which will refresh your contact list with the latest data from Google.

Google API Services Compliance

StaffStar's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. This means:

  • We only use Google user data for the specific purposes described in this privacy policy.
  • We do not use Google user data for serving advertisements.
  • We do not allow humans to read Google user data unless necessary for security purposes, to comply with applicable law, or for internal operations with your consent.
  • We limit our use of Google user data to providing and improving the user-facing features of StaffStar that are relevant to the data we've accessed.

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS): Our application and database are hosted on AWS infrastructure through Laravel Vapor, a serverless deployment platform. AWS acts as a data processor and does not use your data for any purpose other than providing hosting services to us.
  • Twilio: We use Twilio's services to send and receive SMS messages. Phone numbers and message content are transmitted to Twilio for delivery purposes only.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose your personal data if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court or government agency).

No Third-Party Sharing

Beyond the service providers listed above, we do not share, transfer, or disclose your personal data, including any data obtained from Google APIs, with any other third parties. Your Google contact data is used exclusively within StaffStar for the purposes described in this policy.
